Plan dust control with the building team
EPA guidance recommends sealing supply and return registers and keeping the heating and cooling system off during dust-producing work until cleanup is complete. Coordinate this with the professionals responsible for your project.
Make a short handover list
Before the renovation team leaves, ask what was protected, what was cleaned and whether any system-related work remains. Keep this information with the project paperwork for your HVAC provider.
Ask for assessment before a package
Explain any new dust release, odor or performance change. Ask the contractor to identify the affected components and separate inspection findings from assumptions about the rest of the system.
Agree the scope
If cleaning is recommended, ask which parts will be addressed, how your home will be protected and what documentation you will receive. Confirm whether equipment work is included or quoted separately.
